Yolanda and the Philippine Government

Relief Goods for the day.

It’s been more than a week since the typhoon Yolanda (international name ‘Haiyan’) hit the central part of the Philippines. Amongst the greatly affected cities is Tacloban.

Now, there’s been much debate, rants, etc. about how the Philippine government handled the situation. I personally believe that each and every one has the right to criticize the government. In fact, its people are the ones paying them. However, I also believe that we must help out our countrymen. You ask for a change, that’s why you criticize, yet you are not doing anything to be part of the solution. It’s like prayer without action.

I don’t know about you, but for me, I find it more fulfilling to volunteer rather than blabbering in social media (like this post) about how inefficient our government is – stating the obvious.

Just help anyway.

PS: My friends and I did volunteer at the Philippine Army Gymnasium in repacking of clothes, food, bottled water, etc.

The President arrived but just gave a short message.
